There has been a big increase in check fraud. Specifically with checks that are sent through the mail. The check thieves steal and alter checks through various means, rewriting them to someone else for typically large dollar amounts.

We ask that you:

• Be diligent in reviewing your statements and the copies of your checks in your statements. This will help ensure that the check that clears your account is the same check you wrote.
• Consider a different means, such as Bill Pay (through our online banking), or pay by phone rather than mailing a check when paying your bills.
• Monitor your account through online banking.
• Use alerts within online banking to help monitor your account.
