Be on the lookout for text messages/calls claiming to be from Farmers & Merchants Fraud Detection or any other variation of titles they use to make you think it is legit. The bank does not currently send out any type of automated texts regarding suspected fraudulent charges nor would we ever need to ask for your username/password/authentication codes for online banking. If you are ever unsure of the authenticity of a text or call, error on the side of caution and assume it is a scammer until you are able to follow-up and call your local branch number. There has been a big increase in check fraud. Specifically with checks that are sent through the mail. The check thieves steal and alter checks through various means, rewriting them to someone else for typically large dollar amounts.
