Be on the lookout for text messages/calls claiming to be from Farmers & Merchants Fraud Detection or any other variation of titles they use to make you think it is legit. The bank does not currently send out any type of automated texts regarding suspected fraudulent charges nor would we ever need to ask for your username/password/authentication codes for online banking. If you are ever unsure of the authenticity of a text or call, error on the side of caution and assume it is a scammer until you are able to follow-up and call your local branch number. We are more than happy to assist you with any concerns.

There has been a big increase in check fraud. Specifically with checks that are sent through the mail. The check thieves steal and alter checks through various means, rewriting them to someone else for typically large dollar amounts.

We ask that you:

Be diligent in reviewing your statements and the copies of your checks in your statements. This will help ensure that the check that clears your account is the same check you wrote.
Consider a different means, such as Bill Pay (through our online banking), or pay by phone rather than mailing a check when paying your bills.
Monitor your account through online banking.
Use alerts within online banking to help monitor your account.
